The District Court rejected Behrens\u0027 defense of qualified immunity. On appeal, the Court of Appeals held that denial of qualified immunity is an immediately appealable \u0022final\u0022 decision, that an official claiming qualified immunity is entitled to only one such pretrial appeal, and, ultimately, affirmed the District Court\u0027s rejection of Behrens\u0027 qualified immunity.
