Lambrix claimed that his sentencing jury was improperly instructed on the \u0022especially heinous, atrocious, or cruel\u0022 aggravator. The Court of Appeals held its proceedings in abeyance to permit Lambrix to present his claim to the Florida Supreme Court, which rejected the claim without considering its merits on the ground that the claim was procedurally barred.
