Justice Samuel Alito filed a dissenting opinion joined by Chief Justice John Roberts and Associate Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas. \u0022The Court\u0027s decision in this case may seem on first consideration to be modest and sensible, but in truth it is neither, Alito writes. \u0022It is fundamentally inconsistent with one of the main justifications for the \u003Cem\u003EMiranda\u003C\/em\u003E rule: the perceived need for a clear rule that can be easily applied in all cases.
