Hamer filed her appeal on December 11, 2015.\u003C\/p\u003E\n\u003Cp\u003EIn a brief requested by the appellate court, Fannie Mae and NHS argued that Hamer\u2019s appeal was untimely under Rule 4(a)(5)(C) and thus that the appellate court lacked jurisdiction over the appeal. That rule states that \u201c[n]o extension under this Rule 4(a)(5) may exceed 30 days after the prescribed time or 14 days after the date when the order granting the motion is entered, whichever is later.\u201d Hamer argued that the rule is at odds with 28 U.S.C.
